Amazon Book Reviews (by someone who hasn’t read the books!) — 2028 diggs

Book reviews are not the greatest these days…

…and they can’t be trusted.

Did The Literary Analyst just say that?

the so called…“reviewer and analysis of fictional books.”…I must be going temporarily insane…

not to worry this is normal for writers.

When was the last time you read a book review?

Not recently right?

Because they are boring as heck and provide little to no value.

Don’t believe me?

Stop reading this page right now and go read a book review…

…my own site by the way is not off limits…ha!

What are you waiting for?

Back already?

Bet you couldn’t get past the first paragraph without wanting to yank out your eyeballs…my site of course being the exception.

The truth is hardly anyone buys books based on book reviews anymore.

In fact, they may be a turn off.

Have you ever had this experience…

You wanted to buy a book sooooooooo bad! But you wanted to make a good choice and read the book review…

ONE minute later your’re like “DANG this book sucks!”

Rather than entice, book reviews tend to divert you from buying…

…would you agree?

Think about the last time you bought a book and why?

  • Friend recommendation
  • Word of mouth
  • Hype in the media
  • Hype on social media
  • On the bestseller list
  • The book cover looked enticing
  • A book from an author you like
  • The first line of the book
  • The short description on the back of the book
  • The short description on the inside cover of the book

…or

You got sucked into the author’s good marketing and magically found yourself retrieving your credit card in a zombie like fashion…silly rabbit.

The author’s marketing played into your desires and needs.

The worst thing is when you shout…

“DANG this book sucks!”

but it’s too late…

you have already been separated from your money.

The point is book reviews are boring and pointless.

It’s time we tried something new.

Emotions, desires, needs, story, character, theme, plot, action, concept…this is the stuff of books…it is more than just the regurgitated review…

The heat (whether in anger or passion) usually comes during or after the book is read…

…and maybe even during the purchase.

Your book buying decision ignited by the same forces of fulfilling a desire or need…

But once the book is read….

Where is the release?

What avenue is there for discussion?

How do you go deeper into what you just read?

Consider…
