About

Tired of reading run of the mill book reviews? Save time and read the back of the book. If you want more depth, analysis and life lessons to apply, then my blog is the place to be.

I (Denise…for those who are wondering) enjoy reading and analyzing books. My interest was sparked when I started reading literary novels and searched the web for in depth analysis. However, I was met with boring and regurgitated book reviews. So I created a website that provides more depth on the books I read.

My blog goes up against the argument, “I don’t read fiction because there is nothing to learn from it.” There is however so much power in story telling to offer life lessons indirectly. Most people don’t like to be told what to do, it’s a ego thing, stories have the power to offer lessons without direct instruction. Stories are didactic, meaning they provide instruction and information while also being entertaining and pleasurable. What other medium can achieve that?

On my site you will also find the occasional short story or work of fiction that I have produced as well as information on writing, authors and the book and publishing world.

My favourite 3 posts I think you should read first:

  1. What’s Your Story?
  2. J. M. Coetzee’s Youth and the Pursuit of Your Passion
  3. Push by Sapphire: How Precious Triumphed Over Her Problems

But of course it isn’t all about me. Here are your (readers of my blog) favourite posts:

  1. Looking for Alaska: Character Analysis and the Labyrinth
  2. Looking for Alaska: Character Analysis and the Labyrinth Part 2
  3. Looking for Alaska: Character Analysis and the Labyrinth Part 3
  4. Moral Dilemma Analysis of Gone Baby Gone by Dennis Lehane
My ultimate goal is to be a full time writer by publishing novels or working for an innovative, technology embracing company that values story telling through one or all of the mediums of novels, movies, tv shows, short stories, and case studies. I live for, eat, and breath stories, it is my passion and I find it hard to do anything else. Think I have what it takes? Contact me and let’s start a relationship. Also, do follow or contact me on Twitter and google+ I love hearing from my readers.
